Before we talk about this month’s Studio Stash, let’s address the elephant in the room. I changed the name of the publication… again.

I’m going to talk about this more on Friday in detail, but I’m sharing with you first because you’re special, but why did I change the name again? Simply put, Pieced Together was a little too soft and passive, in my opinion. It worked for a moment when I was working to figure out what this publication was about over the past six months, but now that I’m finding my rhythm to the work and what I’m pouring my energy into lately, I felt I needed an identity that better fit my feelings on all things creative.

The short story is that I’ve found I’m more in love with the process of making than the final result. I love the work I make, but after it’s done, I’m already thinking of what I want to make next, and as the world gets more digital, I’m slowly moving to more analog work. I want to put more of my hands into things, and then talk about the process, hence, Manual Transmission.

Today, I’m sending out the first physical copies of Substrate, Volume 1, and though these are nicely printed on high-quality paper, they don’t quite have the same nostalgic quality as my last zine did. I like how Substrate looks, but it makes me want to do more handmade work in the future.

P.S. - If you'd like to see a digital version of either of the past zines, I'll make them available in the shop soon, and I’ll share a code with you when they’re ready.

Now onto the goods.

This month’s Studio Stash is a mix of twelve different images from my most recent collection of grit and grime from around the city. Above is the long-form video demo showing how I use these images in one of my pieces, and you can start experimenting with the set.
