There's pitfalls to telling your stories, especially when others are involved. Here are lessons I've learned the hard way for sharing those stories online
Just discovered you via notes and stumbled onto this post because it touches on the one thing holding me back from posting my first personal essay: fear that my mother will find it. I wanted so badly yesterday to share a pic of my kid in an Irish pub with the kids on her trip. But you can’t just post pics of other people’s kids without their permission. I thought about going to get that permission and also knew it would be opening a can of worms. So I just didn’t use the photo. Sigh.
Yeah, I could see how that would definitely invite the trolls, and I worry about the pics of other kids publicly too. My boy is a swimmer and half the time, him and the boys are standing around shirtless. I tread lightly with those too.
Loved hearing the audio version! It reminded me of your old podcast days. I’d say keep doing them. When I have time, I scroll & read. When I’m pressed for time or multi-tasking, the audio is a perfect solution! Keep it up!
