Training Day

How I avoid sweating through my shirt while performing live

Today is day two of my Choose Your Words live course, and after an extended break from the first session, these are some of my takeaways from the experience.

  • You’re going to make mistakes. Own up to the bad ones and ignore the rest.

  • Don’t overthink the plan. Try to give your participants the easiest path to the content.

  • Don’t Spam! (I tried hard not to do this, but still, some thought I was a bit much.)

  • Your first time will not go as planned. I’m almost certain none of my attempts will go as planned, but I’m going anyway.

  • Check all the cords and all the buttons.

  • Make sure you hit the record button.

  • Personality is way more important than nailing the content.

  • Be open to differing opinions, accept the ones that make sense, and put aside the ones that don’t serve you.

  • Give the replays away… as long as you actually recorded them.

  • If you didn’t record the video, maybe record a new video covering the things that didn’t get captured.

  • Apologize for not recording the video on Day 2 and promise to make it up to the participants.

I’m sure there are more things to share, but I have a video to record.
